If you look at our School Calendar, you will notice that students can expect to attend Imparting Wisdom Christian Academy in-person four days per week. After the first week of school, our students will typically attend school Monday-Thursday.
Why 4 Days/Week?
During the months of August, September, April, and May, our students will be dismissed from school on Fridays. We have planned our academic calendar in this way because we want IWCA students to be able to take advantage of the warmer weather and smaller weekday crowds at places of interest during these months to enjoy some extra weekend family time. Our mission at IWCA involves partnering with parents and families, and we want to encourage strong family bonds.
What is “Focus Friday?”
On our School Calendar, you will notice that Fridays from October-March are marked as “Focus Fridays.” On these days, students will “Focus” on specially assigned projects and assignments at home (or other designated places) on Friday each week. Focus Friday will allow some students to concentrate on subjects in which they may be behind, and it will give others the opportunity to explore special interests. This will also provide families an opportunity to spend time learning together! Students will complete their Goal Cards, keep a journal, or use some other means to record their assigned Focus Friday activities. This will allow these “Focus Fridays” to be counted as learning/instructional time on our calendar. Students will work with their teacher to plan Focus Friday activities for each quarter. All projects and activities must have prior approval from the student’s teacher. In addition, on occasion field trips may be scheduled as part of IWCA’s Focus Friday activities.
